Large vessel transposition (TGV) is a congenital heart disease that refers to a mismatch between the ventricles and the large vessels, where the aorta originates from the morphologically right ventricle and the pulmonary artery of the left ventricle. (1) Epidemiology. The first published study reporting the incidence of TGV is in 1965 where Mitchell notes that this pathology occurs in 2.6% of all congenital heart disease after 56 thousand births (2); Campbell later published an article compiling 7 series describing the incidence of multiple heart disease at birth in England. The overall incidence of transposition was 4.2% of heart disease, ranging from 2.5% to 11% (3). Hoffman and Christianson evaluated congenital heart disease in a cohort of 19,502 patients in California, E.U.U. Reported a prevalence of 3.7% TGV of all heart diseases (4) and Gutgesell in Philadelphia reported 19.3 to 33.8 per 100,000 births per year (5). While in Latin America, Martins reports an approximate incidence of 20 to 30 patients per 100,000 births in the city of Portugal. (6) The TGV represents approximately 5% of congenital heart disease has an incidence of 20 to 40 cases per 100,000 live births in most series, however it is difficult to accurately determine this figure in developing countries because of lack Timely diagnosis and reference to third level institutions; In Mexico there are no accurate epidemiological reports. We do not have figures of the incidence in Mexico. The causes are still not well determined and to date there has been no increase in incidence in the various syndromes
