Descripción :	Existe un continuo interés en el desarrollo de materiales sustitutos de injertos óseos para la reparación de defectos craneales de espesor total, especialmente para corrección de defectos congénitos y postrauma, en los cuales la principal limitante del injerto autólogo radica en la cobertura del laminado. Existen una gran cantidad de materiales sustitutivos referidos en la literatura, sin embargo, la posibilidad de su uso en individuos en crecimiento, a los que nos enfrentamos en el Instituto Nacional de Pediatría continuamente, ha sido poco referido.Los injertos óseos son necesarios para proporcionar soporte, rellenar y favorecer la reparación biológica de los defectos esqueléticos. A pesar de que el hueso autólogo constituye el "estándar de oro", su utilización presenta considerables limitaciones que incluyen morbilidad del Sitio donador, inadecuada cantidad y dificultad para moldear ciertos defectos. Dichas limitaciones, originaron el interés por el desarrollo de injertos óseos alternativos. A continuous interest in the development of material replacements of bony grafts for the repair of defects exists craneales in thickness total, especially for correction of congenital defects and posttraumatic, in which the main constraint of the graft autology situates in the cover of the rolling. They exist a large quantity of substitute materials referred in the literature, nevertheless, the possibility of their use in individuals in growth, to the ones that we face us in the Nationaj Institute of Pediatrics continuously, has been little referred. the bony grafts are necessary to provide backup, to fill and to favor the biological repair of the skeletal defects. In spite of the fact that the autology bone constitutes the "standard of goid", their utilization presents considerable limitations that include morbidity of the place donor, inadequate quantity and difficulty to moid certain defects. Said limitations, they originated the interest by the development of altemative bony grafts. The aloinjertos can be of spongy, cortical bone or well, a combination of both. In spite of the fact that they constitute important replacements, also diverse associated problems with their use exist such as the illnesses broadcast risk, inmunogenicity with the concomitant loss of their mechanical and biological properties, high cost, as well as availability limited by financial or religious motives.
